Sunbursts and Spirals

This darling little wristlet and earrings are colorful additions to any wardrobe. The sunburst and spirals have symbolism attached to them giving this collection even more interest. Worn together or separate, they are sure to add lighthearted style.

Her sunburst design on the wristlet started out with a spiral in the center with rays beaming out from it.  Many cultures believe that the sun is a cosmic power. Sunbursts are also said to be symbolic of the Self, which shines outwardly to others. That’s a positive thing to carry as a reminder, wouldn’t you say?

The coordinating earrings have a double spiral joined in the center which can suggest balance. Spirals are abundant in nature and can symbolize the path leading from external awareness to enlightenment. Additional positive reminders for the wearer 😉

NEWS! Kristy will be instructing a workshop through Henna or No? on April 23, 2016 (at Crabtree Gardens Earth Day Weekend) merging the art of Menhdi (attendees will be using actual henna paste as one of the drawing mediums) with coding through symbolism, creating their own personalized, life-vision scroll called “Asbe Kaetana“. We are over the moon with this idea and are looking forward to the workshop.

We are RAW

Trend setting handbag Raw Leather Sueded self lined small tote The Kristy Bag by CG Crabtree Gardens Handbag Line Kristy Lash Handbag DesignerWe’ve taken the plunge and let down our guard, it’s completely unlike us. Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow and get back to basics. Honestly, there’s really nothing else to say other than Kristy has gone completely RAW!

She and Dave have created something so unusual for the Oh! So Special Handbag Event that’s taking place here at Crabtree Gardens on June 6 from 1-5 PM. They have named this handbag simply “RAW”!

Trend setting handbag Raw Leather Sueded self lined small tote The Kristy Bag by CG Crabtree Gardens Handbag Line Kristy Lash Handbag Designer2

It’s our new relaxed, unstructured handbag in its most simplistic form. We’ve kept the stitching and panelized leather but left the edges completely raw. Unlike our other Signature handbags which have fold-ever edges, this small tote has open seams that showcase the beautiful leather used. It revels in it’s brashness! There’s a cute little tie with a bead on to hold the bag together in the center. The velvety, sueded inside creates a self-lining. Using a full-grain, veg-tanned cowhide with a beautiful, tumbled graining, the bag is soft and supple with a voluptuous feel. Kristy dubs it “sexy”!

Trend setting handbag Raw Leather Sueded self lined small tote The Kristy Bag by CG Crabtree Gardens Handbag Line Kristy Lash Handbag Designer1The very interesting design point of this handbag is that the braided leather handles and corner pieces are the only parts that will be offered in our selection of colors. One corner will have the CG logo and the other corner will be plain. (Note that Kristy is not wearing nail polish-how raw!)

Wow! This is so new, we don’t even have a colored prototype ready for photos. But I can assure you, it will be mine since Kristy claimed the first stuffed bagette 😉

Trend setting handbag Raw Leather Sueded self lined small tote The Kristy Bag by CG Crabtree Gardens Handbag Line Kristy Lash Handbag Designer3This bag easily rolls up for packing. If only Kristy had this when she went to Paris last year.

The handbag team is offering a huge deal for 1 day only!  Any RAW bag ordered on Saturday June 6, 2015 will be “Event Priced at $195 in Natural or $215 Color Handles and Corners.” After June 6, the price for Natural will be $225 and color on handles and corners $245.

Canteen -The Nature Handbag

Trend Setting Handbags The Kristy Bag by CG Mother Daughter Handbag Mother Earth Canteen Style handbag Green

We recently were commissioned to create two special handbags for a mother (Jenny) and daughter (Annie). They enjoy visiting their family’s lake cabin and spending time on their boat. Since today is Earth Day, we thought it would a good day to show the sketch of Kristy’s vision for these nature-loving gals. We’ve been told that Annie is also a girly-girl so don’t limit this style bag to a nature lover 😉 Although I bet both Annie and Jenny would enjoy having one of our fishtail key rings attached to their bags!

The larger bag is named “Jenny” and the smaller bag is named “Annie”. They requested canteen style handbags. Though they haven’t yet decided on the color of the bags Kristy sketched them in green because it is a garden inspired color that is relaxing and tied to nature. The round shape of these bags is unique for us. They are currently in the pattern making stage and we are getting excited to see how interesting they look already.

Jenny and Annie

Our trend setting eye glass sling will be on both of the handbags. Perfect for sunglasses on the lake! Though they are similar in appearance, Kristy designed them with the center strip on top of the large front pocket in a vertical position for the “Jenny” and the center strip going horizontal for the “Annie”. What a thoughtful way to make each bag unique! Our signature look is evident on both handbags.

We thought this mother-daughter collection would give honor to Mother Earth on this Earth Day 2015!  We are proud to be doing our part in helping to protect our environment by using eco-friendly supplies whenever possible.  Happy Earth Day! Go out today and make a difference and do something that will benefit the environment!

Something Fishy

Trend Setting Handbag The Kristy Bag by CG Goldfish Inspired handbag Hand dyed leather handbags Custom made high end leather handbags

Wristlet shown in NEW “Goldfish” color with NEW Hand-dyed Fishtail Key Ring in center pocket. At right, inside the Muffy Vanderbear Bathtime porcelain bathtub with goldfish feet is the one-of-kind “Under the C” Bagette with black pigskin lining. A goldfish plant (Columnia gloriosa) which actually produces blossoms that look like tiny orange goldfish surrounds a small fishbowl filled with Pepperidge Farms ® Goldfish® Baked Snack Crackers.

There’s really something fishy going on here at The Kristy Bag.  For some reason we’ve been getting inspired to create cute accessories that relate to fish. It’s not something we planned but we pay attention when the universe sends good things our way.

First fish fact- we are introducing another new color for 2015. Meet our color-Goldfish! Goldfish is a happy-go-lucky color that is created using a hand-mixed dye combination. It has orange, yellow and red tones and each color batch is unique.  Our first handbag creation using “Goldfish” is the “Ivanna” Wristlet shown below with “snow” thread, a brown zipper and shiny brass hardware.

Upon close up inspection, slight yellow shading can be seen as well as a bit of red pigmentation on this hand-dyed “Goldfish” wristlet.

The new “Goldfish” color offers subtle shading variations which lends an organic beauty to this energetic color and young-at-heart handbag style.

Fully lined with pigskin inside, this “Goldfish”colored “Ivanna” Wristlet has shiny brass hardware and contrasting “snow” stitching and makes a perfect accessory.

Another “fishy-tale” started a few weeks ago when when we rolled out a cowhide and saw a brand on the hide that looked at first glance like the letters “JC”.

Upon closer inspection Kristy noticed that the letter we thought was a “J” actually had another light upward extension to the right which really made it look like a downward facing arrow. Dave and I agreed and we decided to use the brand on the outside of a bagette. The brands and markings can be difficult to see on naked leather and sometimes we don’t even see them when we roll out the leather. They usually stand out when we lay the pattern down for cutting and look closely and they become very clear when cased (dampened with water).

Trend Setting Handbags The Kristy Bag by CG JC Fish Inspired handbag Hand dyed leather handbags Custom made high end leather handbags

A faint diagonal vein line can be seen to the right of the “J” making it look like a downward arrow between the two white “x” marks on the photo

When the bagette pattern was laid out, we also noticed two barely visible scratch marks that resembled part of the body of a fish where it tapers towards the tail. So we planned to use the brand and the scratch marks for the inside pockets of the bagette rather than just the brand on the outside of it. The downward arrow and letter “C” led us to come up with the name “Under the C “. “Under” was for the downward arrow. We all agreed that this was an incredibly-special one-of-a-kind accessory and that it should take on a “water” theme.

To play up the pocket with lines, Dave applied a special leather tooling pattern inside the wider portion to look like fish scales. The most intriguing part of this bagette construction was when Dave cased the pocket with the brand on it.  The brand took on a completely different appearance!  It wasn’t a downward facing arrow at all, it was actually the letter “N”!  We didn’t see that one coming. The part we thought would form the arrow never appeared any darker when the leather was cased.

Trend Setting Handbags The Kristy Bag by CG JC Fish Inspired handbag Hand dyed leather handbags Custom made high end leather handbags1

Cased leather clearly shows the letters “NC” on the bagette pocket at left. On right hand-tooled fish scales fill in part of two scratches that remained on the cowhide.

The next chain of events is quite interesting. When Dave tooled the KBCG into the pocket, he thought that the logo was to be shown on top when open and the fish body at the bottom. So he placed the KBCG accordingly. He never paid attention to the letters and it should have been the other way around. The letters should have been on the bottom and the fish on top. I can’t express how upset I was when I saw what he had done.  So we made the best of it and flip-flopped the pockets to allow the KBCG to appear upright 😉 The bagette was specially dyed to create a water-like effect using a “secret” technique I developed. Kristy chose a black pigskin lining and black thread for this treasure.

New unique “Under the C” Bagette from The Kristy Bag by CG.

When it was time to apply the key ring, Dave had another momentary lapse of judgement. He actually tooled it onto the wrong side. It seems that this special little bagette had so many interesting things happen to it during it’s creation that it requires a very special owner. Perhaps someone out there who has the initials NC, JC or a fish lover would appreciate it’s uniqueness. There will never be another one made just like this!

The hide brand looks like the letters “NC” and is still visible on the specially dyed bagette.

The last little fish-note for today is this cute fish tail key ring. It was conceived from a wrinkle that remained in the cowhide. It is specially hand-dyed and the wrinkle was used as the center point of the tail. I’m completely flipped over this cute little accessory!

Our cute little fish tail key ring made from a wrinkle in cowhide is a trend setting handbag accessory for tucking inside the tiny pocket on our wristlet or hanging on the outside of our handbags.

Handbag Hottie is on Fire!

You may have witnessed this scene before. A woman with a handbag addiction standing with her hands up, clinging to the door frame that’s helping to keep her steady in an attempt to show off her collection of handbags. It’s pretty. It’s real. It’s Kristy Lash, the Handbag Hottie exposing the high-end handbags that she now designs and sells. She is on FIRE!

Handbag Hottie-Kristy Lash exposes her continuing addiction to handbags with several of the hand-made leather bags from her own designer handbag collection-The Kristy Bag by CG which debuted in the USA in 2014.

It’s quite a change from this two-year-old photo, which was taken by Liz Hoegg, for a story about Kristy and her handbag collection even before she and her business partner Dave Crabtree had collaborated on developing The Kristy Bag. Here is the before photo of Kristy with her collection of other well-known designer handbags about a year prior to the creation of The Kristy Bag by CG.

Kristy Lash is a self-proclaimed “Girly-girl”who has a passion for handbags.

We refer to Kristy as the Handbag Hottie because she’s the spark that lit the fire which created a heat wave in handbag design. Her design details such as the trend-setting eye-glass sling seen on the outside of her handbags, the Stitch-in-Nine special stitching detail that she applies to the handbag handles and her luxurious “Lining-a-la-Lash” (soft pigskin inside lining) are just a few things that keep fanning the flames!

As Kristy and her business partner Dave Crabtree come up on one year in business together they continue to create and set new trends. Their colors creations are causing a big stir with designers and their natural-colored, naked veg tanned handbags are getting even more head-turning looks wherever they are seen.

Garden Inspired Handbag Color

Introducing The Kristy Bag by CG new handbag color “Wrought Iron”

We are so proud to introduce a really interesting handbag color that we have named “Wrought Iron”!

Trend setting handbags The Kristy Bag by CG garden inspired handbag color new handbag colors wrought iron major fashion impact Crabtree Gardens Handbag line 1

The name is inspired by the beautiful ironwork that’s found in gardens everywhere and especially noticeable in very early spring. Ironwork and structures are appreciated in gardens for the interest they provide since there’s not much else growing. So we are proud to unveil our newest color of 2015 to you right now!

The dark pigments in the dye penetrate into the textures of the natural leather and impart a rich, deep patina that looks very aged. Our hand-applied dyes are layered to create a depth and uniqueness with each handbag that is created in our workshop.

Trend setting handbags The Kristy Bag by CG new handbag colors wrought iron major fashion impact Crabtree Gardens Handbag line handbag boutique 3

When applied to naked veg tanned leather, “Wrought Iron” can range from black-gray to bronze-black depending on degree of patina that the leather cowhide already has taken on before it’s hand-dyed. Warmer colored hides take on the bronze-black shading and very light shaded hides take on a darker more black-gray shading.

We are loving our new creation and have some smaller items in the works now. Kristy will be working on a larger handbag very soon using this exciting new color I’m certain 😉

Trend setting handbags The Kristy Bag by CG garden inspired handbag color new handbag colors wrought iron major fashion impact Crabtree Gardens Handbag line

Dave’s hand-tooled CG logo is a work of art with this new “Wrought Iron” color filling in the crevices and calling attention to the detail that he skillfully shades into each individual piece. What intricate detail!

Our “Wrought Iron” color is available now for custom-made handbag orders. Visit the Store Hours Page for more information on visiting us in person to order your head-turning, one-of-a-kind custom made handbag.

The bronze-black shade of these bagette pockets match the bronze painted color of a garden chair. The original color of the leather that was chosen for these parts had a slightly warm patina allowing this unique color shading.

We just love setting new handbag color trends! We’re confident that a handbag with “Wrought Iron” will make a major fashion impact on your bright-colored spring wardrobe.

New Handbags for 2015 Signature Collection

There’s a whole lot happening at KristyBag! We have some NEW handbag styles added to our trend setting handbag line for 2015.  Please help us welcome the first new addition to The Kristy Bag by CG Signature Collection for 2015- the lovely “elizabeth”.

The “elizabeth” is a box wristlet. This handbag is made from veg tanned leather that was hand-stained with a dark brown highlighting color then quickly removed. The stain remains in the tiny leather pores giving it a very rich patina.

It’s hand-stitched with white thread and the client’s hardware selection is brushed nickel. A bold black zipper was chosen for impact.

Handbag designer Kristy Lash added a tab at the end of the zipper that snaps closed for another interesting design detail. It adds interest to this new stylish handbag design.

“elizabeth” is a classy head-turning handbag that is full of detail giving it an exciting look. The trend setting eye glass sling was designed on this compact handbag which adds a beautiful detail to the front as you show off those designer shades. The handbag is fully lined with our pigskin Lining a la Lash affording it a luxurious feel when reaching inside.

Trend setting eye glass sling is added to the front of the new “elizabeth” Box Wristlet.

A deep back pocket adds even more roominess to this take-anywhere handbag.

Trend setting handbag major fashion impact Handbag design The Kristy Bag by CG Crabtree Gardens Hand Dyed Leather Since this was a Signature handbag in our collection, the person who purchased the first one of it’s style was given the opportunity to name the bag. They also got their signature hand-tooled on the bag.  There are 6 styles of handbags that are the Namesake Signature handbags. The handbags are named as such: Kristy-tote, Angela-Satchel, Cheri-Crossbody, Sue-Clutch and Ivanna-Wristlet. Each original handbag has that owner’s signature/name hand-tooled onto their handbags. As a high-end handbag maker, it’s the attention to details such as this that sets our handbags apart. Other handbags ordered in these styles do not have a name tooled on them but they will each be one-of-a-kind.

Trend setting handbag elizabeth box wristlet new Handbag design The Kristy Bag by CG Crabtree Gardens Hand Dyed Leather Signature handbagWe will be adding “elizabeth” to our current price list in Natural for $225 and colors at $265. All of Kristy Bag colored bags are hand-dyed which lends a much richer layered quality of color and higher degree of craftsmanship to the handbag that just doesn’t happen with a chemically-dyed hide. You won’t see someone else with the same handbag as you, that’s a promise!

We are also going to give a little teaser here about one of 4 new colors that we will be unveiling for Fall 2015. Here’s a little peek at “Goldenrod”.

“Goldenrod” is the newest of four handbag colors for Fall 2015 shown with snow, black and espresso stitching tread.

Can you visualize this rich, warm color on your own “elizabeth” Box Wristlet? Or maybe even a “Goldenrod” Satchel. Kristy and I surely can! We are both picturing it with either espresso or black stitching for a major fashion impact!

Our promise is to continue to set trends in handbag design with new colors, styles and wearable innovations.
