New! “Stretch” Wristlet

There have been many changes going on here at Kristy Bag headquarters!  In addition to an infusion of new colors, we’ve been working on a sweet little bag that takes it’s lead from the “Ivanna” Wristlet of our Signature Collection.

New “Stretch” Wristlet in color “Natural” and original “Ivanna” Wristlet in new color “Goldenrod” are shown for size comparison.

We are calling the new handbag design ” Stretch”. This new sized wristlet was designed with iPhone 6 in mind. It’s just a bit larger than our original “Ivanna” wristlet and we changed up the look. Our handbag designer Kristy Lash chose to move the CG Logo to the side allowing the “eye gaze” to flow across the beautiful leather unimpeded. The front pocket is now larger and covers three quarters of the front as opposed to the original wristlet which has a shorter pocket with plenty of beautiful hand-stitching detail and a centered logo mini pocket.

Kristy and Dave came up with the name “Stretch” because they stretched the original wristlet pattern to meet the new iPhone 6 size. They also loved that the word “stretch” was a connection to the original wristlet. The woman who is the namesake of our original “Ivanna” wristlet is a yoga instructor so the name “Stretch” seemed to be the perfect fit! “Stretch” is the first accessory in our “Boutique Collection”.

“Stretch” Wristlet is available in “Natural” for $120.

Handbag Hottie is on Fire!

You may have witnessed this scene before. A woman with a handbag addiction standing with her hands up, clinging to the door frame that’s helping to keep her steady in an attempt to show off her collection of handbags. It’s pretty. It’s real. It’s Kristy Lash, the Handbag Hottie exposing the high-end handbags that she now designs and sells. She is on FIRE!

Handbag Hottie-Kristy Lash exposes her continuing addiction to handbags with several of the hand-made leather bags from her own designer handbag collection-The Kristy Bag by CG which debuted in the USA in 2014.

It’s quite a change from this two-year-old photo, which was taken by Liz Hoegg, for a story about Kristy and her handbag collection even before she and her business partner Dave Crabtree had collaborated on developing The Kristy Bag. Here is the before photo of Kristy with her collection of other well-known designer handbags about a year prior to the creation of The Kristy Bag by CG.

We refer to Kristy as the Handbag Hottie because she’s the spark that lit the fire which created a heat wave in handbag design. Her design details such as the trend-setting eye-glass sling seen on the outside of her handbags, the Stitch-in-Nine special stitching detail that she applies to the handbag handles and her luxurious “Lining-a-la-Lash” (soft pigskin inside lining) are just a few things that keep fanning the flames!

As Kristy and her business partner Dave Crabtree come up on one year in business together they continue to create and set new trends. Their colors creations are causing a big stir with designers and their natural-colored, naked veg tanned handbags are getting even more head-turning looks wherever they are seen.

Introducing The Kristy Bag by CG new handbag color “Wrought Iron”

We are so proud to introduce a really interesting handbag color that we have named “Wrought Iron”!

Trend setting handbags The Kristy Bag by CG garden inspired handbag color new handbag colors wrought iron major fashion impact Crabtree Gardens Handbag line 1

The name is inspired by the beautiful ironwork that’s found in gardens everywhere and especially noticeable in very early spring. Ironwork and structures are appreciated in gardens for the interest they provide since there’s not much else growing. So we are proud to unveil our newest color of 2015 to you right now!

The dark pigments in the dye penetrate into the textures of the natural leather and impart a rich, deep patina that looks very aged. Our hand-applied dyes are layered to create a depth and uniqueness with each handbag that is created in our workshop.

When applied to naked veg tanned leather, “Wrought Iron” can range from black-gray to bronze-black depending on degree of patina that the leather cowhide already has taken on before it’s hand-dyed. Warmer colored hides take on the bronze-black shading and very light shaded hides take on a darker more black-gray shading.

We are loving our new creation and have some smaller items in the works now. Kristy will be working on a larger handbag very soon using this exciting new color I’m certain 😉

Dave’s hand-tooled CG logo is a work of art with this new “Wrought Iron” color filling in the crevices and calling attention to the detail that he skillfully shades into each individual piece. What intricate detail!

Our “Wrought Iron” color is available now for custom-made handbag orders. Visit the Store Hours Page for more information on visiting us in person to order your head-turning, one-of-a-kind custom made handbag.

The bronze-black shade of these bagette pockets match the bronze painted color of a garden chair. The original color of the leather that was chosen for these parts had a slightly warm patina allowing this unique color shading.

We just love setting new handbag color trends! We’re confident that a handbag with “Wrought Iron” will make a major fashion impact on your bright-colored spring wardrobe.

Spring Handbag Details

“Sue” Clutch is updated for Spring 2015 with detachable braided handles. Shown at left “Tumbled Strawberry” and at right “Natural”.

It is finally the time of year for renewal! Spring bursts forth with crazy weather and a tease of warmer days. A jacket will still be  necessary in the morning but one never knows what temperature fluctuations will occur by evening. We adapt accordingly. Purses (excuse me) Handbags that can adapt to changing situations have become a must have for many of us. It makes the decision to purchase a high-end handbag even more advantageous because of the adaptability some can offer.

Our “Ivanna” wristlet can easily be used as a wallet and our “Cheri” crossbody can be quickly transformed into a hand-held bag with the shortening of the long shoulder strap.  To allow our “Sue” clutch to become even more desirable, we have renewed her look with an optional, detachable shoulder strap which is a new detail we added for Spring 2015!

“Silver Dollar” clutch on left is stitched with black thread and has brushed nickel hardware. It is shown with “Natural” braided leather handle. “Natural” clutch on right is shown stitched with espresso thread and antique brass hardware. The “Silver Dollar” braided handle is shown. The handles were switched to show the color differences between “Natural” and “Silver Dollar”.

This beautifully proportioned braided strap finishes at about 28″ in length (including snap hooks) and its 3/4″ braided width is thin enough to rest comfortably on the shoulder or even in the crook of a bent arm.  It works perfectly for the times you would like to have both hands available for mingling at parties or to give a round of applause.

Hand craftsmanship creates this veg tanned natural leather detachable braided handle that is now available on The Kristy Bag by CG Signature “Sue” Clutch for Spring 2015.

The thin, sleek size of the “Sue” already fits comfortably under the upper arm. The braiding allows a softened strap feel so it doesn’t dig into the shoulder as some chain-type shoulder straps can. It is a really comfortable fit. Our “Sue” clutch alone is a classy handbag but the braided shoulder strap gives her even more panache and offers a major fashion impact to a girl’s wardrobe.

Inside top flap of the “Sue” Clutch shows the D ring where the swivel snap of the braided handle attaches to the handbag. These rings remain hidden when the strap is not in use. Color shown is “Silver Dollar”.

“Sue” Clutch is available in “Natural” naked veg-tanned leather for $300 and our gorgeous hand-dyed leather colors for $350. The optional matching braided shoulder strap is available for an additional $50 on both natural and colors. Remember our bags are completely made by hand here in America!

Painted Stitching Pony

We have a new tool in our workshop. It is called a “stitching pony”. It’s a wooden stand with a turn screw that holds leather for stitching. It’s like having a third hand to hold the item you’re working on.

We decided to paint the ponies to give them some life. I chose “Z”  to be a male and Kristy chose “Stella” to be be female.

So meet my painted stitching pony “Z”! I chose red as the base color then drew black stitching lines around the edges. I painted white racing stripes like the ones on a Mustang car and I outlined them with glitter paint then added a checkered flag. I outlined the “X cut” in the wood to look like our “XOX” stitching detail and added some flowers on one side and grass on the other because I love gardening.

Here is Kristy’s painted stitching pony “Stella”! She is donning  GORGEOUS checks and stripes inspired by the fabulous work of MacKenzie-Childs. There are pretty “Hottie Pink” colored flowers painted on her sides. Kristy applied glittered nail lacquer inside some of the white checks and light stripes to add additional sparkle and glamor to Stella. Her name is written in silver on the red stripe. She did a lot of painting to cover this very fashionable stitching pony.  Both ponies turned out great.

Kristy and Dave received and invitation to show their handbags at a private showing at the Valley Country Club’s Ladies Night Boutique on March 20, 2015 in Sugarloaf, PA so these stitching ponies came at a good time.

We haven’t seen any other stitching ponies out there that were painted so we may be setting another new trend in painting handbag making tools. For the leather craftspeople that follow this blog, we would love to know if you have one of these ponies and if so, how you painted it or changed its appearance. Please share a photo on our Facebook page or message us. If you blog, put a photo out there! It will be interesting to see what painted lives these ponies take on 🙂
